The Joint Flood Mitigation Project will provide diking infrastructure improvements and flood prevention measures along the Coquitlam and Fraser Rivers over the course of approximately six years.

kʷikʷəƛ̓əm First Nation receives new funding to upgrade and protect its historical cemetary, including $300,000 from the First Nation Land Management Resources Centre and $387,000 from the First Peoples' Cultural Council. Our Historic Cemetary serves as a sacred final resting place for our Elders and Ancestors as well as extended family and relatives from other First Nations.

Port Coquitlam and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm First Nation sign a service agreement for the first stage of development of Coquitlam IR #2, one of the two reserve lands managed by the Nation. This historic agreement paves the way for the Nation to start to develop these these lands which cover a 202 acre site located off Pitt River Road in Port Coquitlam, BC.

A two-and-a-half metre traditional Coast Salish welcome figure was unveiled today at Douglas College’s Coquitlam Campus. Titled “Salmon Woman Welcomes Salmon Home. "The figure was commissioned last year in commemoration of the College’s 50th anniversary and in recognition of the College’s location on traditional Coast Salish territories – in particular the Kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) First Nation.

Chief and Council share their views on Canada's first National Day on Truth and Reconciliation, September 30, 2021. This day is one of the 94 recommendations made by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada in their final report to the federal government in December 2015.

March 10, 2021 - The Riverview Lands have been renamed səmiq̓wəʔelə (pronounced Suh-MEE-kwuh-EL-uh), in recognition and respect of the Kwikwetlem First Nation’s (kʷikʷəƛ̓əm) historical and cultural ties to its ancestral land.
