kʷikʷəƛ̓əm First Nation announce new Sockeye Hatchery Hatchery is being built nearby the Coquitlam Dam in the heart of the Nation’s traditional, ancestral and unceded territory known as the skʷƛ̓əma:ɬ x̌acaʔ (Coquitlam Lake) Watershed. Not long ago, eulachon returned each spring to spawn in the lower Fraser River in numbers hard to fathom today. Today, a remnant population hangs on, a species in the Fraser that has been classified as “endangered.”
