Chief and Council

yəw̓en̓ si:ʔem̓ is responsible for leading kʷikʷəƛ̓əm members through the on-going development, implementation, and monitoring of culturally relevant laws and policies to fulfill the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm vision, protect our Indigenous Rights and safeguard kʷikʷəƛ̓əm assets, for the benefit of all kʷikʷəƛ̓əm members.

yəw̓en̓ si:ʔem̓ is supported by a Heads of Family Advisory Committee and by Standing and Ad-Hoc Committees comprised of our members as well as government staff. A Standing Committee is a permanent committee while an Ad Hoc Committee is created to work on a specific task for a specific length of time.

The purpose of these committees is to provide advice to yəw̓en̓ si:ʔem̓ to help them in their governance roles and to build the capacity of the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm members and for future leadership roles within the nation.

At present, there are four Standing Committees and one Ad Hoc Committee which are:

1. Administration Standing Committee
2. Intergovernmental Affairs, Land Code and Natural Resources Standing Committee
3. Economic Development Standing Committee
4. Culture and Language Standing Committee
5. Custom Election Code Ad-Hoc Committee

Our current yəw̓en̓ si:ʔem̓ has been elected into office from April 1, 2023 until March 31, 2027.
