Community Engagement and Votes

The kʷikʷəƛ̓əm Government is guided by our vision, mission and values, as described in our Governance Policy Manual. One of our core values is to Empower Citizens, Family, and Community through engaged and shared planning to realize shared goals and interests.

The kʷikʷəƛ̓əm First Nation engages with our members through a variety of methods, such as:

Family Meetings
Standing and Ad Hoc Committees
Information Sessions (In-Person and Online)
Elders, Parents and Youth Meetings
Surveys (online, telephone and in-person)

One Feather

OneFeather is an online platform that encourages community engagement and facilitates voting for elections, referendums and ratifications in First Nation communities.

Why is the Kwikwetlem First Nation using it?
The Kwikwetlem First Nation uses their technology to facilitate voting and engagement among our community members. Member/voter anonymity and the secrecy of the ballot/vote are ensured when using OneFeather.

How do I activate my OneFeather account?

We strongly encourage all members to activate their OneFeather account as we anticipate using this system for voting and community engagement in the future.

It is easy to activate your account with One Feather. All you need is access to the internet and your own email account. If you do not have an email yet, there are several different free email providers that you can use: one of the more popular ones is Gmail which is available through Google.

If you live in the community, and do not have a computer at home, you are welcome to use one of the computers in the KFN government office to vote. You can also use a friend’s computer or a computer in a public space with internet access.

Is my vote private or will anyone else know the results?

All votes are confidential. The Nation only receives information on the aggregate voting results and not how individual members voted. For more information on OneFeather voter privacy and data protection click here.

Who can help me registration or questions?

Members can access technical and general support any time by clicking the red “HELP” button at the bottom of any public facing OneFeather page, or the direct confidential form submission to the Electoral/Ratification Officer for any voting event.
