Community Infrastructure is responsible for managing, repairing and maintaining existing housing, planning for new housing and updating housing policies and agreements. It also looks after the physical infrastructure of the community, the government’s administration buildings, public areas of the community, access roads and the community’s Emergency Management Plan. Our objectives, as described in our 2021 Comprehensive Community Plan, are to:
The kʷikʷəƛ̓əm First Nation manages all housing for kʷikʷəƛ̓əm m̀əlstéyəxw (members) who live in the community or our ancient village site of slakəyánc (I.R. #1). This community is a 6.5 acre village site near where the Coquitlam River meets the Fraser River in Coquitlam, BC.
We currently manage 16 rental housing units, ranging in size from one bedroom to four bedrooms. All the rents are set on a fixed rent basis. These homes include both housing owned by the Nation as well as social housing which is funded by CMHC.
