Custom Election Code

Our Custom Election Code determines how we elect our leaders including the length of term of office, the number of elected government representatives and many other important issues regarding our governance. 

Our current Custom Election Code was ratified by our members in 2013. Good governance, and best practices, recommend revisiting the code on a consistent basis. Since 2013, the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm government has identified some gaps in the code as well as some technical inconsistencies which should be addressed.

In 2020, we established a Custom Election Code Ad-Hoc Committee to review and update our current Custom Election Code, with input from our members. We expect to present the final version for ratification by membership before March 31, 2022.
